SCIROCCO.GIF Madonna strikes a HOT pose.
She's coming at you like a hot Italian wind.

Please draw the curtains.
PAVOROTI.SND Luciano Pavorotti sings a few operatic
passages.
I_WANT_U.SND Madonna says:

ITALIANS CAN REALLY COOK
-------------------------------------
La Sala da Pranzo.
THE DINING ROOM.
A good book with pictures & recipes is:
THE COOKING OF ITALY
by Waverly Root
(Time-Life; New York; 1968)
Ho fame e ho sete.
I am hungry & thirsty.
PICKLED CARROT STICKS - Italian Style
---------------------
12 carrots cut in quarters (lengthwise)
2/3 cup olive oil
1/3 cup wine vinegar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp oregano
2 cloves garlic, crushed
COOK carrots in boiling salted water for 10 minutes.
DRAIN.
BOIL other ingredients and pour over carrots.
MARINATE in refrigerator for 24 hours.
I use SUPREME OLIVE OIL from Italy.
I can't remember what the brand of olive oil was that
they used at DAVIO's (I worked there for a spell
during college) but they had excellent food.
I'm sure they'll tell you if you ask.
Another CAFE book is:
IMPERIAL ROME
by Moses Hadas
(Time-Life; New York; 1965)

Can't COOK? TRY BOSTON's NORTH END
-------------------------------------
Tavola per due, per favore.
A table for two, please.
See BOSTON MAGAZINE's SUMMER/FALL 1991 issue.
They did a nice write-up on the restaurants of the
Italian North End of Boston, Massachusetts.
FROM THE COVER: "A guide to the LORE & ROMANCE -
and best food - in Our bit of Italy."
Here's something to read in those great
North End CAFEs on Hanover Street
with your Expresso, or Capucino, & Cannoli:
THE URBAN VILLAGERs
-------------------
Group & class in the life of Italian-Americans
by HERBERT J. GANS
(Macmillan; New York; 1962)
Quanto fanno pagare per la pensione completa?
How much do you charge American plan?
Accetta assegni di viaggio?
Do you accept traveler's checks?
And another good place to look for Italian restaurants
is in THE AMERICAN EXPRESS GUIDE TO BOSTON AREA RESTAURANTS
(from casual to formal dining)
If you call your local AMERICAN EXPRESS office they may
have a guide for where you live, too.

Che opera (dramma, commedia, pellicola) si esibisce stasera?
What opera (play, comedy, film) is playing tonight?
THE METROPOLITAN OPERA
Stories of the Great Operas

(Metropolitan Opera Guild; 1984)
Amazingly it also includes a part on SCOTT JOPLIN!
STEREO REVIEW has a Calendar of Composers if
you're trying to track them in time.
THE METROPOLITAN OPERA ENCYCLOPEDIA
a comprehensive guide to the World of Opera
Edited by David Hamilton
(Simon & Schuster; New York; 1987)

AND in BOSTON you can find out about seeing the OPERA

My favorite piece on it is:
O MIO BABBINO CARO
sung by Victoria de los Angeles
Rome, Santini
AND an occasional Opera Singer POPS up at
Boston's Symphony Hall

DRESSED TO KILL
-------------------------------------
Oggi vorrei andare a far delle compere.
I should like to go shopping today.
ARMANI not only makes suits that knock'em dead...
... they also make an Incredible COLOGNE.
DEL SAPONE
the soap
And then from SENSI there's SPORT QUID.
I picked this up over 4 years ago at Jordan Marsh.
It's Italian liquid soap that comes in a cool rectangular
plastic container. The Upper Right corner of the container
slides up to dispense the liquid. And I've gotten compliments
from the way it smells.
So hey... what can I say!
Vorrei farmi un bagno stasera.
I should like a bath tonight.

CONDOMS
Recommend seeing the MARCH 1989 (or later) issue
of Consumer Reports on Condoms.
I believe they also report on Lubricating Jellies.
A friend of mine recommended K-Y BRAND LUBRICATING JELLY
to me a long time ago. Some other lubricants may
promote the growth of yeast infections and may not be
water soluble AND may cause the breakdown of the CONDOM you are using.
K-Y jelly washes off with water & does NOT breakdown your condom.
It is water soluble for general lubricating needs.
It's made by Johnson & Johnson.
They also make WAXED Dental Floss.
And their BABY OIL is a great way to MASSAGE before hand.
OR try Weleda Massage Oil (Spring Valley, NY) which
has oil of Birch leaves & Peanut & Olive & Rosemary Oils
& oils from Arnica & Lavender FLOWERs.
The Johnson & Johnson headquarters was designed
by one of my favorite architects -> FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT.
In New Hampshire, near Concord, I've heard that you
can tour one of Frank Lloyd Wright's USONIAN Houses.
If you call the Chamber of Commerce in
Concord, New Hampshire you can find out more
about the public tours of this house.
The TOURS are conducted by a museum up there.
An excellent pictorial book on this architect is:
FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT
by Bruce Pfeiffer
(Benedikt Taschen; Cologne, West Germany; 1991)
I got it at the BOOKSMITH for just $20.
They've got tables loaded with discount books!

PARTY TRAIN
-----------
A long time ago, I took dance classes at
Fred Astaire Dance Studios. It was great.
You'd start in a group class to learn
the basic steps. Then you'd do a little
one-on-one in an individual class, either
as a couple or (if single) with a teacher
of the opposite sex. Then on Fridays
they had a PARTY Class. Any student
could go to this dance AND everyone had
to dance & change partners.
They served liquor... but I find that when I
do anything ATHLETIC... I'm more into the Juice.
A great way to learn to dance.
They had Ballroom & DISCO & Tango & Rhumba &
you-name-it. Whatever was HOT!!
Takes TWO to Tango!
ISN'T THE WORLD A cRaZy PLACE?
